Pink-Red Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, crooked trunk covered in delicate, silky, silver bark, and inside, the very dense wood is brown.

The tangled mess of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small bunches of small, broad, flat leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to brown at the top.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of large, gentle purple blossoms with circular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like varnish.

In early summer it produces small, perforated fruit. The fuzzy azure skin is thick and inedible, and the soft azure flesh is bitter and powdery. The light grey seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
