Copper Creeper

Climbing plant type: Creeper (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short creeper is a very fast growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 22 feet (6.7 meters) and growing as high as 68 feet (20.7 meters).

It takes 7 months for the silver stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 3 cm (1.2 inches) and are rough and prickly.

The asymmetrical, smooth leaves reach up to 3 inches (8 cm) in length. They are copper at the bottom and cream with red edges at the top, and have serrated edges.

During late spring, the creeper produces copious amounts of tiny light grey flowers, and during the mid-summer, after flowering, it produces a few large berries.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
