Magenta Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, angular trunk covered in fine, silky, black bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown-grey.

The numerous branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with handfuls of small, fan-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid purple with magenta zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of giant, washed-out yellow blossoms with fan-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like pepper.

In mid-summer it produces small, asymmetrical fruit. The clammy magenta skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy hazel flesh is salty and sour and oily. The hazel seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for making strong rope
