Vinefruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This big fruit tree grows up to 35 feet (10.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is pale brown.
The small handful of branches are short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of giant, heart-shaped leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either lime or amber, with cream zig-zags.
In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, purple blossoms with many layers of petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like sugar.
In early summer it produces large, oval fruit. The waxy blue skin is peel-able and edible when cooked; it is spicy and salty, and the slightly crunchy aquamarine flesh is sweet and sour and sticky. The black seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
