Twining Blueberry Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, straight trunk covered in delicate, silky, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is black.
The small handful of branches are short and thin and are covered with small bunches of large, very narrow and elongated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either lime or amber, with cream zig-zags.
In early spring, it produces dozens of small, azure blossoms with teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a faint scent that smells like freshly baked bread.
In mid-autumn it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The crispy blue skin is peel-able and salty, and the crunchy aquamarine flesh is salty and oily. The blood red seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for making paper
It can flourish even in standing water.
