Sapphire Olive Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 80 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in delicate, ridged, burgundy bark, and inside, the very dense wood is silver.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are florescent blue and cyan.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, lime blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like cinnamon.

In early autumn it produces tiny, oval fruit. The smooth lime skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is salty and sour, and the crunchy olive flesh is extremely savoury and powdery. The white seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
