Waterleaf Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 55 feet (16.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 37 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in smooth, brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, 5 pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are lilac and hazel.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, blue blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like onion.

In early winter it produces , oblong fruit. The sticky beige skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy lilac flesh is extremely sour and oily. The light brown seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
