Blacktwig

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 43 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several flexible, straight stems covered in thick, smooth, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches are very long and thick with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of giant, long, narrow, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are found in gold, brown and aquamarine varieties, delicate and fuzzy.

It produces a thick sheet of giant, brown flowers with many layers of petals. They are hardy and have a soft scent that smells like candle wax. In midwinter it forms medium-sizedsilver, tough-shelled seeds.


It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
