Turquoise Bloom

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)

This giant flower grows up to 10.2 feet (3.1 meters) tall. Its burgundy stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are very thin and straight, and split into numerous branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the tiny, lime green leaves are thin with jagged edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Each stem splits 4 to 9 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 99 cm (39.0 inches) wide, with turquoise petals and a yellow center. The flower head is made up of dozens of petals in raised layers. They detach easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like soap, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
