Orangefruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, wavy trunk covered in ridged, brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is brown.
The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of giant, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid orange or blue, with amber dots.
In early spring, it produces many bunches of giant, magenta blossoms with 8 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like garlic.
In late autumn it produces very large, finger-like fruit. The crispy olive skin is tough and overwhelmingly salty, and the slightly crunchy beige flesh is sweet and syrupy. The green seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
