Ashy Purple Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The thin stem is ashy purple, and is dotted with small cream spines. The slanted, olive trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter in the middle. Its green branches are short, rigid and upright and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.
The very large amounts of jagged-edged, thick leaves are found in white, caramel and peach varieties. They are rigid, but take some effort to detach.
It is quick growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with alternating petals of white and green, with a brilliant blue central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 curved petals. It has a strong scent that smells like marzipan.
The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the olive flesh is rough, and the yellow sap is thin.
