Twistwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 15 meters (49.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 381 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in smooth, yellow bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.

The excessive amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of sticky, small, very narrow and elongated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either slate, or pink with hazel lines.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, olive blossoms with fan-like petals. They are hardy and have a soft scent that smells like rich perfume.

In late summer it forms giant, green, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
