This colossal bine is a slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 3,254 feet (991.8 meters) and growing as high as 121 feet (36.9 meters).

It takes 19 years for the moss green stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 3.0 feet (91 cm) and are rough and fibrous.

The finger-like, waxy leaves reach up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) in length. They are solid slate or amber, with hazel dots, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces thousands of large lime flowers.
