It takes 5 months for the white and deep orange stems to mature, by which point they each have a diameter of 2 cm (0.8 inches) and are tough and woody.
The 7 pointed, fuzzy leaves reach up to 2 inches (5 cm) in length. They are a shade of amber that gradient shifts to brown at the top, and have serrated edges.
During late spring, the bine produces a thick sheet of average light grey flowers, and during the early autumn, after flowering, it produces plenty of large fruits.
It can flourish even in standing water.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
