Knobbly Goldleaf

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, angular trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, black bark, and inside, the very light wood is gray.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with sparse amounts of leathery, tiny, spear shaped leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are bronze on the edges and gold at the center.

In late summer it forms tiny, orange seed pods.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The sap causes severe rashes
