Violetberry

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This colossal shrub grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for around 10 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, straight stems covered in fine, ridged, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with very large amounts of giant, circular, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are generally cream, flexible and smooth.

In late summer it produces a handful of medium-sized, beige blossoms with broad, flat petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like honeysuckle.

In mid-autumn broad, flat fruits ripen. The clammy purple skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy violet flesh is salty and powdery. The bronze seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
