Sapphire Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is lime, and is dotted with small blood red spines. The thick, gnarled, white trunk can grow to as much as 5 feet (1.5 meters) in diameter. Its pink-red branches trail down across the ground.
The tattered-edged, wide leaves are grey on the edges and florescent orange at the center. They are delicate, and easily come away when pulled.
It is very slow growing, taking 22 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with pink petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 25 raised, narrow petals. It has a faint scent that smells like pot-purri.
The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the sky blue flesh is leathery, and the indigo sap is thin.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is overwhelmingly resistant to fire damage.
