Burgundy Maple

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This massive tree grows up to 95 meters (311.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 498 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, slanted trunk covered in rough, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the light wood is burgundy.

The abundance of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small amounts of covered in fine hairs, miniature, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in yellow, gentle blue and indigo varieties.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, cream, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
