Crimson Vine
Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This average-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 48 feet (14.6 meters) and growing as high as 941 feet (286.8 meters).
It takes 3 years for the burgundy stems to mature, by which point they can have a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and remain soft and fleshy.
The fan-like, rough leaves reach up to 8 inches (20 cm) in length. They are either cream or crimson, with green zig-zags, and have wavy edges.
During late spring, the bine produces many tiny light purple flowers, and during the mid-summer, after flowering, it produces lots of tiny berries.
The stems are covered in large spikes.
