Bluefruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big fruit tree grows up to 45 feet (13.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 38 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in delicate, silky, brown and grey bark, and inside, the hard wood is pale yellow.

The branches are long and thick and are covered with handfuls of large, sickle shaped leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are green on the edges and amber at the center.

In early spring, it produces dozens of tiny, gold blossoms with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like rotten egg.

In mid-autumn it produces , 5 pointed fruit. The waxy sky blue skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is extremely bitter, and the very soft azure flesh is sweet and oily. The grey seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The sap is edible and overwhelmingly salty.
