Violet Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, curved trunk covered in ridged, light brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of large, stiff, pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either florescent red or lime, with pink lines.

In early spring, it produces dozens of tiny, indigo blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are very delicate and have a fairly strong scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In early summer it produces , long, tapering fruit. The leathery violet skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is sweet and savoury, and the crunchy orange flesh is sweet and oily. The olive seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
