Silverfruit

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 23 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in thin, silky, silver bark, and inside, the very light wood is burgundy.

The tangled mess of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of huge, thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally black.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, pink blossoms with 6 oblong shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

In late autumn it produces very large, circular fruit. The smooth grey skin is thick and sour, and the soft bronze flesh is sweet and dry. The crimson seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
