Silver Spike
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This short cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. It splits randomly along the body to form 5 finger-like stems. Each stem is silver, and is covered in lots of flexible blood red spines. The round body is silver, and is covered in large amounts of rigid bronze spines.
It is very fast growing, taking 11 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are lilac on the edges and vibrant orange at the center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 curved petals. It has the faintest scent that smells like old books.
The cactus's skin is extremely thick, the gentle blue flesh is leathery, and the aquamarine sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
