Silverfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 36 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a slender, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, silver and white bark, and inside, the light wood is copper-coloured.
The branches are very long and thin and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, circular leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of silver that gradient shifts to turquoise at the top.
In early spring, it produces many balls of giant, cyan blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are very delicate and have no scent.
In late summer it produces tiny, asymmetrical fruit. The rubbery amber skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft green flesh is sour and savoury and oily. The blood red seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It can survive a long time without water.
