Twistvine Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in delicate, smooth, burgundy bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.
The branches are very short and thin and are covered with very large amounts of huge, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are crimson on the edges and indigo at the center.
In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, light grey blossoms with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like old shoes.
In mid-autumn it produces , triangular fruit. The rough light brown skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft silver flesh is savoury and oily. The blood red seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
Before maturity, it can grow 0 per day.
