Kings Hand

This big fruit tree grows up to 22 feet (6.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 78 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in hard, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with small amounts of huge, perforated leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are found in violet and ashy blue varieties.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of giant, purple blossoms with needle-like petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like wet dog.

In early autumn it produces , finger-like fruit. The rough lilac skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy white flesh is savoury and syrupy. The orange seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
