Bloodfire Blossom

This average-sized flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its moss green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 6 and are thick and straight, and split into dozens of branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the tiny, red leaves are very narrow and elongated with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

3 to 5 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 35 cm (13.8 inches) wide, with black petals that gradient shift to blood red on the outer edge. The central disk is green. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 34 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has an intense scent that smells like coconut, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.
