Bloodvine
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This large tree grows up to 88 meters (288.7 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 499 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in very thick, rough, brown-green bark, and inside, the very light wood is light brown.
The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of sticky, large, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are red and peach.
In early spring, it produces large amounts of giant, blood red blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like rotten egg.
In late summer it forms small, caramel berries.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
All parts of the shrub are edible.
