Redfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a wide, straight trunk covered in delicate, silky, dark green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is white with black speckles.
The small handful of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of miniature, thick leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are generally cyan.
In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, white blossoms with perforated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have the faintest scent that smells like cheese.
In mid-summer it produces large, broad, flat fruit. The waxy red skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy white flesh is sweet and sour and powdery. The lime seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
