Bloodvine
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized flower grows up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. Its blood red stems grow in bunches of 7 and are very thin and straight, and the giant, yellow-green leaves are slender, pointed with tattered edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.
3 to 5 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are amber in the center, yellow in the middle and amber at the edges. The flower head is made up of 12 petals in raised layers. They fall easily.
It has a fairly strong scent that smells like paint, and it has copious amounts of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
