Bloodblossom

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 189 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, slanted trunk covered in thin, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are long and slender and are covered with large amounts of crispy, giant, thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are found in pink and caramel varieties.

In early spring, it produces many bunches of medium-sized, orange blossoms with many layers of petals. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like blood.

In late summer it forms tiny, crimson, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
