Violetberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This huge fruit tree grows up to 59 feet (18.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in very thick, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is mahogany-coloured.
The numerous branches are long and slender and are covered with sparse amounts of small, very thin leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are light yellow at the bottom and green with bright green streaks at the top.
In early spring, it produces lots of small, vivid purple blossoms with 3 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like honeysuckle.
In late autumn it produces small, long, straight fruit. The rough orange skin is delicate and bitter and spicy, and the soft sky blue flesh is sweet and sour and dry. The hazel seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
It is bio-luminescent.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
