Gray Moss
Moss type: MossThis gray moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In damp forests, and On rotten logs.
It is short, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is slightly frail; it takes a lot of damage when trodden on.
When mature, emerald teardrop-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release dozens of spores.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
