Silverleaf Lavender
Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its purple stem is very thin and splits into 8 branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the large, silver leaves are slender, pointed with irregular edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.
Each stem splits 5 to 8 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with petals that are grey on the edges and orange at the center. The flower head is largely flat with 52 raised narrow petals. They fall easily.
It has the faintest scent that smells like lavender, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
It is suitable for making paper
