Burgundy Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 548 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in fine, ridged, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy.

The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with thick bunches of smooth, giant, wide leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of emerald that gradient shifts to violet at the top.

In early spring, it produces a handful of small, indigo blossoms with pleated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like mint.

In late summer it forms small, brown, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
