Copperwood

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized tree grows up to 25 meters (82.0 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 646 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wonky trunk covered in hard, ridged, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with sparse amounts of crispy, giant, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are yellow-green with bright blue tips.

In late summer it forms giant, black, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It can survive a long time without water.
