Coniapple Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 60 feet (18.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 25 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in hard, waxy, dark brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is pale brown.

The abundance of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, circular leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown on the edges and copper at the center.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of giant, cream blossoms with perforated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like warm milk.

In early winter it produces , needle-like fruit. The clammy amber skin is thick and inedible, and the soft lilac flesh is sweet and spicy and oily. The light brown seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
