Crimson Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 125 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, twisting trunk covered in delicate, smooth, silver bark, and inside, the light wood is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of soft, large, spear shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either bronze or crimson, with vivid red zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces several giant, brown blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like pot-purri.

In late summer it forms large, red aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
