Azureberry
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 79 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, wrinkled, dark brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.
The branches are short and slender and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, fan-like leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to lime at the top.
In early spring, it produces lots of small, pastel purple blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like marzipan.
In early summer it produces small, circular fruit. The smooth aquamarine skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft azure flesh is sweet and juicy. The yellow seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
It commonly grows in large patches.
