Bluesap Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This modest-sized tree grows up to 41 meters (134.5 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 383 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a branched, angular trunk covered in cracked, dark brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pale brown.
The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of leathery, giant, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either light blue, or black with dark grey edges.
In early spring, it produces dozens of small, faded purple blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a weak scent that smells like sweat.
In late summer it forms giant, dull red seed pods.
The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
It is difficult to cut through.
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
