Grass type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)This small, blood red grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The very thick stalks grow in sparse patches that are flexible and they overwhelm an area rapidly.

During the early winter, it produces lots of pollen, but it does not cause many allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with excessive amounts of small grains.
It is suitable for making strong rope
