Emerald Blackflower

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.7 feet (51 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is thin and splits into 5 branching stems at the top, and the huge, yellow leaves are light lime green on the underside and are slender, pointed with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single small flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 18 cm (7.1 inches) wide, with petals that are generally black; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 7 widely spaced, narrow petals. They are sturdy.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like a damp log, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
every part of the creeper is extremely toxic.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
