Violetberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 82 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, straight trunk covered in very thick, cracked, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow-brown.
The excessive amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of giant, circular leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are azure on the edges and violet at the center.
In early spring, it produces thick bunches of tiny, light brown blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are very delicate and have an intensely strong scent that smells like marzipan.
In late summer it produces , fan-like fruit. The hairy azure skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy lilac flesh is spicy and savoury and syrupy. The faded orange seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
