Blackwood

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 81 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a slender, wavy trunk covered in fine, cracked, black bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow.

The excessive amount of branches are long and thin, with thousands of twigs covered with very large amounts of tiny, silver needles. The needles themselves are rigid.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, pink berries.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
