Silvervine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, twisting trunk covered in wrinkled, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is silver.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of miniature, finger-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are olive with lilac tips.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, turquoise blossoms with 2 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a soft scent that smells like burning wood.

In early winter it produces , cuboid fruit. The leathery gold skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft slate flesh is savoury and oily. The hazel seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
