Silverfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in thick, ridged, black bark, and inside, the very light wood is silver.
The numerous branches are very long and thick and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, fan-like leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid blood red or grey, with silver zig-zags.
In early spring, it produces dozens of large, yellow blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are hardy and have a soft scent that smells like lavender.
In early summer it produces large, asymmetrical fruit. The leathery vivid yellow skin is tough and spicy, and the soft purple flesh is salty and oily. The light green seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
