Copperpetal

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)

This large flower grows up to 4.7 feet (1.4 meters) tall. Its copper stem is very thick and straight, and the huge, green leaves are broad, flat with tattered edges. 15 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Two small flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 61 cm (24.0 inches) wide, with petals that are red on the underside and turquoise on the top. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of dozens of tightly layered, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a delicate scent that smells like soap, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to insects.

It can flourish even in standing water.
