Yellow-Green Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The very thick stem is yellow-green, and is covered in dozens of fine, crimson, hair-like spines. The straight, pale yellow trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its moss green or red branches are very short and thin and start growing at the top the stem.
The very large amounts of jagged-edged, stiff, pointed leaves are green with yellow tips. They are frail, and take some effort to detach.
It is slow growing, taking 47 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with cream petals and a subtle blue central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 59 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.
The caudiciform's skin is thick, the lilac flesh is slimy, and the light brown sap is thin.
The sap causes severe rashes
