Turquoise
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 49 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in fine, knobbly, dark brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is yellow-brown.
The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with handfuls of tiny, perforated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either olive, or bronze with turquoise splotches.
In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, vivid yellow blossoms with perforated petals. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like rotten meat.
In early autumn it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The rough caramel skin is thin and sweet, and the soft bronze flesh is salty and sticky. The deep red seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
