Starburst Flower

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thin and splits into numerous branching stems at the top, and the tiny, yellow-green leaves are oblong with wavy edges. 14 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with petals that are generally crimson; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of many widely spaced, narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has a powerful scent that smells like soap, and it has a modest amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
